I enjoyed the show Noah’s Arc. Patrick Ian Polk did an excellent job of writing this show. For some reason I feel people lost the focus of what the show was truly about. I have heard the negativity of about his depicting all homosexuals as limp wrist, famine men. The show was actually about a group of friends and how they support one another in many aspects of their lives. Relationships, family, prejudice & jobs.
I found so much truth in him showing how many gay men continue to reach out to their gay brothers for this kind of support. While the main character played a somewhat role of being not the example of what we consider a over masculine man. The character is true to the community not all men are over masculine but still take pride in being an example of what men are suppose to be about working hard, being responsible indivuals and living in the truth of who they are. He gave examples of a gay black man being a professor, a corporate executive, a small business owner, a nurse and the list goes on.
And I’m proud for us as a community, because it’s one more step to see gay & lesbian talents to bring thoughtful and thought-provoking representations of the black gay lifestyle to film & television screens.
